Dystopian Films That Became Reality
Idiocracy
This is a funny movie. But some aspects of it are coming true before our eyes. None of the characters pay attention to whats happening around them (100% accurate to today). Everyone believes the fools around them, they have lost the ability to think & are only focused on stupid slapstick & dopamine kicks. Computers are the ones taking your orders, not cashiers anymore (refer to the Carls Jr. scenes) which is certainly the case with supermarket, fast food or airport kiosks. The highest IQ, most successful are having less children whereas the less educated and lowest IQs are having the most children (check it for yourself). Now consider the fact that universities are scrapping entrance testing such as the LSAT, MCAT and others. Some are removing grades all together or issuing equal grades regardless of performance! There’s even bar codes implanted underneath the people’s skin like worthless cattle & guess what Sweden & the World Economic Forum are pushing for…Funnily enough, the shoes worn by the prisoners were meant to make them look dumb & ridiculous. Guess what kind they are? Crocs. Worn by millions today
Matrix
Obviously not literally with the jumping, flying and aliens, but judging by how glued and interconnected we are to social media, the internet, our live entertainment, our emotions (emojis), our payment systems… it kind of is true. Nobody seems aware to enough to unplug from their taxes, their government narratives & lies, their health systems. In many ways we live in a completely digital world detached from any sort of physical substance. Fast Food tastes real, but it’s deprived of nutrients or even real meat. Do people care? Nope. We are told what to think & when, unable or unwilling to question the truth of the world around us. The term “red-pilled” has taken off for a reason. If you’re a fan of the Tate Brothers you’ll agree. Just google Andrew Tate Matrix. There’s even a meme that developed from the type of person I’m talking about.
The Truman show.
In a similar fashion, if you didn’t see parallels with how people responded to the Covid hysteria and this movie, you weren’t watching one of them closely at all. This is a perfect demonstration of sticking to the fake script for a paycheque, for entertainment or just for compliance sake. Everybody played a part just like in the Milgram prison experiment. Untold damage occurred, but everyone stayed in character anyway. If everyone takes part of the lie, it seems real & true but at the end of the day it’s a façade & will destroy lives. I cannot think of a better movie to display such behaviour.
Brazil
Brazil is truly a strange film that highlights the absurd shape life takes when faced with immense, never-ending bureaucracy. Life in this movie is completely run by rules, regulations, restrictions, and fuelled by an endless stream of state-run media & tottering technology. The scene where people are presented with a photo of gourmet food but are served slop just to pretend they’re eating the gourmet meal is a parody of the illusory life we demonstrate on social media & credit card spending. In the same scene, a terrorist attack occurs blowing up half the restaurant, yet people continue to chat and the band resumes playing; similarly we are totally desensitized of horrible events happening before our very eyes. For some reason, Twitter is showing videos of killings lately?
Brazil is a great movie exposing the double-edge sword of technology promoted by the state as a means of protecting you from outside threats at the cost of losing your privacy and value as an individual; the characters are nothing more than numbers on a spreadsheet. You can feel how trapped how the characters are and to a lesser degree the same bureaucratic hindrances, state surveillance & fear of terrorism exists in much of the world today.
I used to believe in conspiracy theories… I had stopped because they call came true
The Purge.
If you’ve been witnessing what’s been going on in California you’d agree that lawlessness is absolutely rampant. It’s legal to steal up to $900 in San Fransisco, so, what do you think people have been doing? Some have compared San Fransisco to Haiti now. In fact, across the United States there’s evidence of cartels infiltrating departments. Certain statistics like only 45% of violence crimes going reported, the number of viral police mishaps and only 54% of murders becoming solved (declining every year) support.
Robbery, vandalizing, looting, murder, assault, battery, rape, drug sales and use are absolutely through the roof where it’s almost uninhabitable. In some areas throughout the USA you could definitely imagine that citizens would elect for 1 day of craziness (of all crime legal like in the Purge) rather than 365 days of misery. It really is like the fall of the Roman Empire…
Children of Men
Ever take a look at fertility rates? I’ll save you the time. Every single “developed” country is below birth replacement right now. Every one. Eastern Asia is brutal. South Korea is looking at a 94.4% population collapse over the next century and Singapore & Japan have numbers just as poor. The world is facing a cataclysmic population collapse which means less people able to have children. Now add in wars, damaged fertility capacities (in both men & women), unhealthiness, unwillingness, future wars, epidemics, civil conflicts, suicides and you can begin to see that there’s a level of rarity developing with having children.
Generally, you can say the only people having children are in the 3rd world (and click here why there’s problems in the 3rd world). Low fertility is a massive problem for economies, for investments, for taking care of the elderly, for having enough food, medicine, construction & stability. Low fertility does not mean less car traffic & freedom at the beach, it means empty concrete buildings with nobody producing anything.
This movie tells the story set in 2027 where everywhere but London has collapsed and everyone is doomed for extinction since everyone is infertile. Amid illegal immigrants, refugee camps, communist symbolism, excessive trash and terrorist attacks, one sole lady gets pregnant and our main character seeks to protect her from the government.
Soylent Green
I’ve shamefully only seen this recently and while (not to spoil it) the ending is not exactly be true (unless you’re Haitian or African it seems), it paints a picture where a few corporations really control all of the food supply. Overpopulation, greenhouse gases, smog, and hunger are all themes expressed in this dystopian film in the 70s that are just Tuesday’s newspaper now. They have the “nutrient-dense” foods supply correct, something you see in any health food section of a grocer as well as the zombie-like mask wearing resembling now, especially in Asia.
While the main ingredient in Soylent Green isn’t for sale, twenty states in the United States have legalized disposing of human bodies in water using a process called alkaline hydrolysis. It is now utilized in the funeral industry, but let’s just hope that Soylent Green doesn’t hit markets anytime soon a long with all the other GMOs.
