Scary Movies Part 2

It’s Scary Movie Night!

Here’s another list of movies that you can watch with your friends. Put on the popcorn!

(5) The Night House (2020).
This movie is listed as a thriller/horror but it plays like a mystery. It’s mysterious, eerie or thrilling throughout most of the film. It gets really weird & is different than other horror films. Makes you think twice about a ‘lake get away’.

Here’s the synopsis: After Beth’s husband, Owen, commits suicide, she resorts to heavy drinking. Upon feeling a supernatural presence around her, she dons the investigator’s hat, only to unravel some disturbing secrets

(4) Hereditary. This one set a whole new bar of scary films. This a true, dark horror film. There’s no niceties or good guy/bad guy dynamics. “Hereditary” is a film which subtly explores the intergenerational effects of a family curse, in two ways. You’ll pick up new elements or messages the more you watch it– if you have the guts. I read a review that read: A film so horrifying that you simultaneously never want to see it again but can’t take your eyes off while watching it…”

And you thought your family was Fucked up…

Synopsis: When the matriarch of the Graham family passes away, her daughter and grandchildren begin to unravel cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry, trying to outrun the sinister fate they have inherited.

(3) The Invitiation (2015). One of my favourite movies that I believe went unappreciated. This movie is slow going but its discomfort is shared with you and you begin to immerse yourself as the main character. You’re invited to watch it with the lights on

Synopsis: While attending a dinner party at his former house, a man (Logan Marshall-Green) starts to believe that his ex-wife (Tammy Blanchard) and her new husband (Michiel Huisman) have sinister plans for the guests.

(2) The Fourth Kind (2009). I remember this film being ‘the film to watch’ in middle school, where lots of people actually believed it to be purported by fact (but just so you can sleep tonight, it is entirely fictional).

Synopsis: A psychologist residing in Nome, Alaska, a town known for people mysteriously disappearing, discovers evidence of alien abductions during the course of treating her patients

(1) The Wailing (2016). An amazing movie. Lots of great scenery, scares, mystery, filmography and a great story told all while being a horror movie. The Wailing is one my favourite horror movies let alone favourite Korean movies. It really feels like there’s better Korean movies now relative to the USA.

It’s a long one, and be prepared to read subtitles–but I can almost guarantee you’ll be engaged and thrilled!

Synopsis: Villagers investigate a mysterious new stranger and the killings that arrive with him. There is mass hysteria as loved ones are taken and killed.

Thanks for checking them out! Before you start your film i’d really appreciate if you could give a follow on:

Okay. Enjoy the film!
