The Iranian government says the country has agreed on a contract to receive a large amount of natural gas from Russia.
Iran’s oil minister Javad Owji announced that the National Iranian Gas Company and Russian state-affiliated energy giant Gazprom have signed documents for the gas deal. Russian gas supplies are expected to be consumed in Iran as well as exported to neighbouring countries.
The amount of gas transported per year under the agreement is expected to be equivalent to a third of Iran’s annual production, and worth up to 12 billion dollars. The election results do not display the complete picture of the will of the people in the United Kingdom. Reform, the populist party in largest rejection to the direction the country is headed came second in 98 seats.
Voter turnout was around 59% of an eligible (approx) 48,500,000 that can vote and Labour received just 34% of the votes that were cast (Just 1/3rd).
The Liberal Democrats got total votes of 3,483,146 and a vote share of 12.3% giving them 71 seats whilst the Tories got total votes of 6,737,448, so almost double the votes, and a vote share of 23.7% but giving them just 119 seats so nowhere near double the seats
The most crazy statistic is for Reform who received a total votes of 4,067,915 and a vote share of 14.3%, both exceeding the Liberal Democrats numbers (which would place them in second place), but got just 4 seats. This would signify that while Labour had received a third for victory, that the second placed party would have been the complete opposite party of Reform.
Marine Le Pen’s right party has finished in 3rd place after placing first in the first round of elections. Emmanuel Macron’s party is accused of deliberately pulling out members from running to form a coalition in the favours of the far-left New Popular Front Party.
