Japan is Not Going to Make It

Totally geeked out recently to come to the realization that I don’t think #Japan is gonna make it in its current form. I have covered Japan before, but the “geeking out” was spending hours of video interviews, articles and X accounts in Japan and drawing the following conclusions:

But First…

Now let’s dive in… last chance to turn away

1) Everybody thinks the same. Full stop.

2) #Fertility rates are getting worse (20-year problem) and everybody agrees the best way to solve it is with foreigners (the old crowd especially for some reason). Municipalities are abandoning with no response. This is perhaps their largest problem and it’s the number one spoken about topic throughout the country

3) Citizens have a wildly skewed and “cartoon” view of the world. UK, Spain, Italy are still in the 1980s in their mind and USA resembles something from a Marvel movie

4) Likewise, citizens view others as rude in many ways but in other ways far more kind, complementary and liberated (young people like this over their Japanese birthplace)

5) Japan received a bad case of the 2021 Pharma treatment perpetrated on global citizens

6) Japan’s immigration reform drifts itself away from being a meritocracy. This is a key culture feature of Japan that’s being reversed.

7) Hikikomori (extreme depression) is a real problem for both men and women.

8) A surprising number of ordinary women do porn or prostitute themselves for extra yen

9) As I write, their concept of ‘face’ is so engrained that nobody is willing to change course (they leave the country or work to death, literally (Karoshi)

10) Japan is 95% reliant on energy imports in a sanctioned, explosive world–will they always be able to source their energy needs?

11) China (the collapsing ‘real’ economy) + USA (cut throat politics) are their closest partners–they have no deep-seated friends

12) Believe or not, it’s going woke. Universities have introduced gender-neutral toilets, speech policies to LGBT crowds, TV and gaming features lots of these themes and complaints of ‘all-men’ cinema is growing. Slowly, but the same principles are in media & university. Some may dispute this point as it’s not as severe as in the West, but its nevertheless there

13) They have their own Climate Change Act. If you read these, you’ll realize it’s one of the most destructive policies around

14) Their populist (common-sense Prime Minister) was ousted & no response took place. Like I said, a cut-throat ally

15) Taxing the rich more + adding in a #gift tax to join the inheritance tax. Japan already has high tax with some benefits using dividends and holding companies, but individually there is less reason for wealthy businessmen to stay

16) Japan’s suicide rate is no joke. Around 20-30K a year, which per 100,000 is larger than PuertoRico homicide statistics. These effects are continuous.

17) Military recruitment was 49% below target in 2023 and 34% below target in 2022, they’ve never hit their target for years

18) Overweight and obesity is increasing in Japanese men

19) Their lack of English (its bad) makes them far more susceptible to propaganda without knowing its real intention

20) Surveys reveal that Japanese children want to be a company employee when they grow up (really..?). This is the only finding in all of Asia if you compare results from Taiwan, Thailand, South Korea, China & Hong Kong.

21) Japanese people have not travelled much at all (less adaptable in my opinion). Fewer than 20% have a passport

22) Despite them now being pro-foreigner, ALL the foreigners leave. They’re NEVER going to be Japanese, even if they speak it fluently & that divide never makes the place “home” to generate the change they seek

23) Unlike South Korea, Thailand or Taiwan, Free speech is not valued (better to keep quiet, keep the peace= no changes)

24) Confidence or you could say, morale, is very-low in college kids. They find it difficult to see a great future

25) To preserve harmony, cheating in relationships is quite normal. Nothing is concrete for the future, even their relationships

26) 35-year VARIABLE-rate loans are common with now more going for 50-year loans for housing. They’re stuck.
