Choosing the Best of Latin America

There’s always a trade off, and this is no exception when it comes to volatile Latin America

I’ve heard a clever dilemma with respect to healthcare. There’s:

  1. Affordability
  2. High Quality
  3. Availability

You can have 2… but not 3.

Healthcare therefore can be:

  • Affordable and of great quality; but unavailable to everybody
  • Affordable and available to everyone; but of poor quality
  • Great quality and available to everyone; but not very affordable

It’s a bit of an interesting dilemma that relates to the talking point regarding socialized medicine vs. private medicine. However, i’ve done a similar breakdown with respect to my own variables after sizing up Latin American countries. I broke countries’ traits down into:

  • Freedom (ability to be left alone, to make independent decisions free from bureaucracy, an overall voluntaristic society)
  • Taxes (ability to reduce as many taxes as possible, overall business friendliness)
  • Lifestyle (ability to experience great weather, music, food, people, overall enjoyment)

The left shows the countries with their respective abbreviations.

Six countries did not rank as being advantageous in any circle. These countries are either communist or simply too dangerous–there is nothing for you there.

I hope this illustration helps you get a better sense of some of the pros and cons that can be found in this region & that this can help you with your own investment, lifestyle or tax decisions. Contact Open Door Consultancy for help!
